SPEAKERS

Jaxson & Jaime Primak Sullivan

Jaime Primak Sullivan  00:00

This girl is on Pfizer. This girl is on Pfizer. I’ve wanted to do that for so long.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Boys are gross. I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s time for dinner. What are you talking about? That’s weird. I’m not risky like that. I don’t jump out of planes. I don’t pet dogs. I don’t know. I don’t want to hold your snake. I would not risk getting COVID for Rihanna.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Hey guys, you’re listening to TELL ME WHAT TO DO. And I am Jaime Primak Sullivan. It’s been such a long time since I’ve done this. And man, I miss you guys so much. And I appreciate those of you who watch CAWFEETALK every morning asking about the podcast, it feels really good to be wanted. And it feels really good to know that this audio contribution is appreciated and missed and loved. So thank you so much for that. Thank you for continuing to tell your friends to listen. It’s awesome. We are doing this special episode. We’ve not recorded anything in a while. So as you can guess there is so much to talk about. But before I get into everything that’s on my mind, Jaxson, how are you?

Jaxson

I’m great. How are you?

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I am good. I just so I eat the same snack every day. He’s nodding. They can hear your nod.

Jaxson

Okay, I can confirm that she eats the same thing every day.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I eat the same snack every day I cut up an apple. Do you know what it is?

Jaxson

Apple with cayenne and lemon juice?

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Yes. So I cut up an apple. And I squeeze half of fresh lemon on it. And then I sprinkle cayenne pepper and I know what you’re thinking, eww, but actually no surprise, it’s delicious. It’s so good. It’s like sweet but then sour and then spicy. I think it burns calories. Maybe it doesn’t I don’t know. But then after I eat it all I drink the lemon juice with Cayenne from the bowl, which pretty much burns going down but that I’m sure burns calories and it’s vitamin C it’s like the best you know, it’s fresh lemon.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

You don’t get scurvy.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  02:15

What is that?

Jaxson

A vitamin C deficiency?

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Oh.

Jaxson

That sailors would get?

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Oh crap. So yeah, I won’t get scurvy which is good. And like I eat it every day. And I actually really love it. Jaxson and I are recording this right now in my son Max’s room. And he is so messy. Like I thought the whole time he was not because I would look into his room and the part of the room I could see but now Jaxson and I are seated where I can see behind his bed which is apparently where he throws everything their stuff like under it. Boys are gross.

Jaxson

Can confirm.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Is it weird? This was your room growing up.

Jaxson

For my teenage years.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Okay, so what some of you may or may not know is I bought this house or Michael and I bought this house from Jaxson’s mom. And Jaxson. This sounds really incestuous. But Jaxson lived in this house. So he comes here to work sometimes. And he’s like, and sometimes he comes in helps me with the kids like he’s so great. And I always feel so comfortable because he knows the house inside and out, obviously, because he grew up in this house. And we’re sitting in your old room. Does it still feel like your room?

Jaxson

No, it’s got different wall colors. And you know a lot more of Max’s belongings.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Yeah, for sure. Right. It does look different. Because when you had it was very dark.

Jaxson

Yeah, it was more, I guess a little dark beige, I guess to the walls. If I remember correctly.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Yes. And this is more of like white and blue. And it’s giant colors.

Jaxson

He did have his bed in the same positioning that I did.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Yes. We thought about that. Like where does it go best? So anyway, it’s kind of cool that you’re in here and like, this was your room.

Jaxson  04:08

Yeah, I’m over it. We’ve been in here so many times.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I know. I know. I feel like we have so much to talk about there’s so much going on. And I’m leaving for New Jersey this week, the shore house for those of you who know or and for those of you don’t. I bought a house at the Jersey Shore. It’s literally been my dream. I’ve been waiting 15 years. And I can’t believe it’s here and it’s mine and it’s real and I get to go and I have a house and like I love it so much. And we’ve made so much progress on it and just furnishing it and really making it a home. As I’ve said oftentimes not always but oftentimes men buy the house but it’s women who make it a home and the love is in the details down to the dishes that I chose and the, you know, picture frames, everything match.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

You know, it just even when Michael came for spring break, he was so impressed with the work that I had done. Not necessarily like the work like putting beds together and stuff like that, because I think he knows I definitely did not. I was not the one to do all that. But Michael’s not easily impressed. And just opening every cabinet and looking around at the space. It was his first time at the house, it was spring break. And just seeing like, the matching pitchers with the glasses and the dishes and just like everything having a place and really feeling like a home like

Jaxson

Right not shelter but a second home.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Right, right, right, right, like a home exactly like a true second home. And the first night that we went to bed, he held my hand, which is his signature move, such a stud, and he was like you I’m really impressed. You did a really good job. And the kids loved it. Everything. It felt so good that they would be like Mom, do you have an, and Mike it’s right here. Like I just I, you know, I think about them all the time. And I think about their needs I anticipate.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  06:10

So one thing that you know, just being on the sidelines for soccer as often as I am, and especially my oldest daughter, Olivia’s coach Peter, you know, it’s that word all the time is anticipate, anticipate, right, like, what are they going to need? What are they going to ask for? What are they you know? And so that’s what I try to do is like, anticipate their needs and their wants. And not to say they get everything they want. Because they absolutely do not. I mean, Jackson, am I tough?

Jaxson

Ah, it’s I mean, it’s tough love. But there’s, it’s, you know, they don’t run the house.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

No, they absolutely don’t.

Jaxson

They don’t give up.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

No, they are relentless. But I do try to anticipate it does make me feel good. But anyway, so I’m going home to New Jersey, and I’m going to spend a few days there just finishing up a few things, I have to do an inspection for the town and get the permits that we needed and see my friends and do some writing and just hang out give you a break from me, which will be nice.

Jaxson

Honestly, it’s a little bit more stressful because you’re away for me. And I like I’m always thinking like, what should I be doing that I’m not basically.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I’m sorry you feel that way. And I do actually think ideally, in a perfect world, I would love to give you Friday off, like truly off, like, you know, maybe respond to emails, but like not urgent, not everyone as it comes, you know, like, check it three times during the day, you know, whatever. But really take a long weekend. And then Monday, we have a pitch so we need to be focused. But anyway, so there’s that and I’m going to South Africa to shoot Beast, which is very exciting. For those of you who follow, Beast is a movie I sold a couple years ago, written by story by me written by my work husband Ryan Engle, great. just such a good human being like, when I tell you I love him. Like that video I posted of Kate Winslet. This is how I feel about Ryan, hold on.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  08:39

So that’s how I feel about Ryan Engle. And it’s interesting about male and female friendships because I think men having female friends and women having male friends does so much for perspective, conversation, self-esteem. Because when your girlfriend’s like, friends that are girls can hype you up in a non-sexual way, you don’t have to try to be cool. You can just receive that, you know? And, like when you come dress, and I’m like, I like your pants and you’re like, oh, thanks. It’s like, you know what I mean? It’s there’s not a there’s when you have a sexual attraction to somebody, there’s all this pressure for who you have to be and how you have to act and am I sexy enough? And am I skinny enough? And am I cool enough? And am I this enough, right? But when you really know it’s never going to be that you can just pour into each other. It’s so great. But we live in a society that has determined that men and women can’t be friends. That is just not possible and it comes from, do you know where it comes from?

Jaxson

When Harry Met Sally.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

No. It comes from women being property and men owning women and their wives being seen as assets and not humans. So you can’t talk to my wife because she belongs to me. And then that just evolved to you can’t talk to my wife because she belongs to me. Wait a minute, what? Like I belong to God, I don’t know what you’re talking about. If Michael ever said some shit like you did what? Oh, my god, it would be pay per view. You would pay money to see that fight between Michael and I. He has never, ever, like, shown an ounce of jealousy or control or you can’t be friends with so and so. Or why do you talk to so, he doesn’t even really make jokes. Like it. There’s none of that now I’m a little bit more petty.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  09:48

I’ll say things like, like a woman will come up and say hello to him. And of course, he’ll introduce me and they’ll talk whatever and she’ll walk away. And then my brains going don’t say it. Don’t say it. Don’t say it. My mouth goes, is that your girlfriend. But he knows I’m joking. There’s no way that I expect Michael to go through life without having friends that are girls and let me tell you something. Jealousy has never stopped anyone from cheating. Control has never stopped anyone from cheating. Acting a fool coming out of your face. All that has never stopped anyone from cheating. No matter how I behave around Michael having friends that are girls. If Michael wanted to get a blowjob, I promise you he’s gonna figure it out. It does not matter how I act or how I react to him having friends

Jaxson

That behavior might push him away.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Sure. Who the hell wants to be with someone jealous? Jealousy is like cool when you’re 16. Oh, he really likes me. Look how crazy he is no bitch, she’s insecure as all get out. Okay. And he’s projecting that as that he cares so much for you. That that’s why it’s so unsettling to him. If you speak to anyone of the opposite sex now. It is not a measurement of how much someone cares for you. It’s simply a measurement of how insecure they are. I have a ton of guy friends. I will never give them up. I tell them I love them. And I absolutely do. So back to Ryan Engle. I love him to death and his wife. By the way, Kristin is wonderful. But Idris Elba starring in this movie, and it’s so exciting. And Baltasar Kormakur is directing it. And he’s brilliant. For those of you who don’t know he did..

Jaxson  12:35

Everest.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

He did do Everest, so good. He’s skis just great. He’s from Iceland. So many misnomers about Iceland. It’s like Iceland is actually beautiful and plush. And gorgeous. And Greenland is actually covered in ice. It’s like the opposite. But anyway, we have a great team and we’re going out to South Africa to shoot this movie at the Limpopo region, which by the way, I was in a play when I was young, called the Elephant’s Child in second grade and we had a song, the Limpopo River, the Limpopo River it flows through Africa. It’s greasy and green and not very clean. The wide wide Limpopo the things you remember from second grade, I swear, but every time someone on one of the Zoom’s is like Limpopo, I’m like the Limpopo River. I can’t get out of my head.

Jaxson

Just wait till someone brings up Guglielmo Marconi he’s the guy who invented like radio waves or something.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I like how you pick the most obscure..

Jaxson

It’s the one I remember.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Okay, you know what? There is always like the one you remember

Jaxson

You were Limpopo River. I’d never heard of that until we were going to shoot there.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

That’s true. That’s really funny. Okay, guys really quick. We’re gonna take a quick break, and then we’ll be back.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  14:06

We’re back. Feels good. So what else can I share with you? So I’ll be in South Africa for a couple of weeks. And then I’m taking the kids to New Jersey for five weeks, which is so exciting. And when Michael comes, you will help with the dog, please.

Jaxson

Okay, that’s news to me. But I will do that.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Yey. Well, let me rephrase that. Will you help?

Jaxson

Yes, I will.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

You get to stay here. Which is cool. Because it’s like you’re back in your house, but it’s not yours at all

Jaxson

You can call that cool..

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Weird. Cool. Cool. Weird.

Jaxson

We work here every day. Yeah, like,

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I know, I know. Okay, fine. And then, the week before school starts, we’re going to go on like a proper beach vacation I think and we have a bunch of people staying here. which is exciting for them. So they’ll be watching the house but they’ll be visiting with their friends and family in Birmingham. More importantly, Jackson and I are members of the Pfizer gang.

Jaxson

Yeah, we are.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

This girl is on Pfizer. This girl is on Pfizer. I’ve wanted to do that for so long. It’s good. It’s really good. It’s the Alicia Keys remix. But yeah, so Jackson and I are fully vaccinated, which feels great. My leg is almost completely healed from my surgery. Not, I’d say 80%. But it feels good to be vaccinated.

Jaxson

Oh, yeah,

Jaime Primak Sullivan

It feels like just not that you’re not careful. You still wear your mask, you still wash your hands, but the fear that like impending doom that I felt, and great, by the way, if there are those of you who are listening who never felt the impending doom of the pandemic, amazing. I did. I had bad anxiety, I did.

Jaxson  16:01

I think that in a pandemic, that’s healthy, though, you want that anxiety to not wear your mask or something. You know, like if you were fearless in the pandemic, you’d get it.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Right. Well, I mean, I don’t know. There are some people who like, somehow managed to do absolutely nothing different and still didn’t get it.

Jaxson

Yeah, they got lucky.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Yeah, they did. But see, I’m not risky like that. I don’t jump out of planes. I don’t pet dogs. I don’t know. I don’t want to hold your snake.

Jaxson

There’s only so much thrill to maybe getting COVID.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Right, exactly. Like, that’s not exciting for me. I’m not here to be a political martyr. Like I’m not dying on any politician sword. I don’t love any president enough to be like, watch me go out and get COVID because I love this president so much. Nah, Nope. No, like not even if Reagan who I like not even if Reagan came back, literally and was like Jaime four score and seven. No, still not doing it. I’m not Lincoln, none of them. There is not a politician that I would risk getting COVID for. There’s not a political party. There’s not a movement. There’s not a nothing.

Jaxson

You know, there’s a whole discourse over whether over people who worship politicians to an extent like they have their favorites, and they’re big fans of them, but they work for us. It’d be weird to have like, your favorite person who does something for you? I don’t know.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Right. This is my favorite gardener. I am obsessed with this gardener. Do you see my gardener flags? They’re flying everywhere. No. And I think I’m also you know, I believe God as much as I think anybody does, and thou shall not worship false prophets to me. You know, I try to remember that even with like musicians I love or like actors or sport, you know, whatever. There was a point where I was so obsessed with Michael Jordan in the 90s. Like, I was obsessed with Michael Jordan. Now this is before I was saved. So I didn’t have accountability with the Lord. But like, I was obsessed with him. My dog’s name was Jordan, I only wear Jordan’s. Like, I was like, convinced I was gonna get married. And I was obsessed with Michael Jordan. That is not healthy. It’s just not, it’s one thing to be a fan or to appreciate a talent or something. Also, he didn’t work for me.

Jaxson  18:28

Was Space Jam your favorite movie?

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I listen, you don’t understand. I was obsessed with him. I was obsessed with the whole Bulls team. But like, there was anyway, it’s not healthy. It’s not good to be fanatical. It’s not good to be obsessed, you know, obsessive, whatever. But to all of that, I love Rihanna, love, I would risk it all I have my goal was like, no, I might be like, well, we don’t have to compromise or something like I would not risk getting COVID for Rihanna and I love her very much like so, you know, I don’t know. Anyway, it feels good to be vaccinated. And by the way, just a reminder that since you have been a baby, you have been receiving vaccinations with much less, with a much lower effectiveness rating, then this current vaccine and if you’re cautious about it, just know that you’ve been getting them your whole life and remember that time you got polio and got really sick of course you don’t because we eradicated it.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I’m not afraid of and by the way, I’ll just let me say one more thing about the vaccine. People want to know, but they think it was rushed. Because we’ve been so conditioned to think that medicine and advancement and science takes years and years and years. The truth is it takes funding. And what you saw with the COVID vaccine is what the greatest scientists in this country and around the world are able to do when they are properly funded and not begging for every fucking penny. That is the bottom line. Our medical communities in this country are begging the federal government for grants. My brother-in-law, who works in infectious disease has to write fill out the amount of shit he has to write, to get a grant to continue his research, for our benefit is shameful.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  20:30

Honestly, it’s fucking shameful to every parent who’s have ever had to sit in an IEP meeting and teachers, who have to fill out 950,000 documents to get services for a child with special needs. You understand. The reason this vaccine was able to move as quickly as it moved is because the government, the United States government and governments around the world stopped everything they were doing to focus on it, and funnel funds into research, which is what we needed. So this just goes to show you how effective we really could be for cures for things and vaccines for things. If our medical and science communities were properly funded, and they didn’t have to fucking beg, borrow and steal for every penny. It infuriates me,

Jaxson

It does me as well.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Thank you, Jaxson. Now we can move on to some fun shit. And again, I’m not pushing the vaccine on any way by anyone. By the way, if it isn’t right for you, it absolutely isn’t right for you full stop. Period. But if you are on the fence, just know that I got it and had no reaction. Jaxson got it. You fell tired.

Jaxson

Second one made me tired, but I’m not going to work. I was able to do stuff. So it was fine.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Okay, really quick. We need to take another break. But don’t go anywhere. Because we’ll be right back.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  22:05

And look at that. We’re back. So back in January, Jaxson and I talked about the controversy surrounding Hillary I mean, Hilaria Baldwin. Apparently we talked about it for 15 minutes and the producers decided to hold it back for this bonus episode. So here it is unedited, for your enjoyment. Before you listen to it, though, remember that we are in April. And this was a very big story in January. It was the most perplexing mind-boggling Miss direct Latin phishing. I don’t even know

Jaxson

As far as we know she’s still out there still claiming.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

The thing is that now she’s back on Instagram, but you’re not allowed to comment on any of her things. So she has turned off comments so she’s been posting lots of stuff. And she had two babies one biologically and one with a surrogate gorgeous children. Oh my god, they make some beautiful babies. But again with the Hispanic names.

Jaxson

Can’t stop, won’t stop.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

If can’t stop won’t stop was a person. Alright guys, so take a listen.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Jaxson, have we talked yet about Hilaria on the podcast?

Jaxson

We’ve talked about it so much outside of the podcast.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

But Jackson, I can’t get over it. So for those of you who may not have any idea what I’m referring to Hilaria Baldwin, the wife of Alec Baldwin, who most of you I would guess 99.9% of you have believed that she is a Latina woman from Spain, España, okay? And the reason you would believe that is because she speaks with an accent says she’s from Spain, and named all of her kids like […] Okay, turns out listen, people are bored during the pandemic. Okay, so over the holiday, there was like a, somebody tweeted, it was like, hey, I’m bored. Wanna hear a fun fact? Hilaria Baldwin, her real name is actually Hillary, something. And she’s from Boston. Also, she’s white. And the internet was like, wait, what? Not only is she actually white.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  24:45

Now by the way, I want everybody to take their loving feelings for Hilaria and her great yoga videos and cooking videos and amazing underwear, nursing selfies and all the things you love about her and set that aside for a second. I think you can still like her and understand how bizarre what I’m about to explain to you is, she is white, meaning Anglo-Saxons parents, meaning neither parent is Hispanic, meaning neither parent is Latina, meaning neither parent is from Spain, meaning biologically 23 and me all the way down to her toes is a white woman. But Jaime, she speaks Spanish. Right. Speaking another language does not make you Spanish, speaking Spanish does not make you Spanish. So things that don’t make you another race, sleeping with someone outside your race. Right? Sleeping with a Black man does not make you Black.

Jaxson

Certainly not.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

No, certainly not. Speaking the language of another race. Right. So speaking Chinese does not make you Chinese. Marrying someone of another race, visiting a country lots of times. For example, my brother-in-law, Dr. David Sullivan goes to Africa a couple of times a year for malaria work, right? He’s been doing it his entire career. Malaria is his focus. It doesn’t make him African.

Jaxson  26:27

Nor what he claimed to be African.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Well, he certainly would not. But I’m saying like going to owning a home in another country does not. So if you own a home in Jamaica, you are not Jamaican, you may be a Jamaican citizen, right? If you get citizenship there dual citizenship, you may be cool with the locals. Right? You may know how cooking Jamaican food does not make you Jamaican, but Jaime, what if like, you grew up there. Okay. So you are Jamaican, by like, nationality, but not, ethnically, right. Thank you, Jaxson.

Jaxson

Chet Hanks is not Jamaican.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Do you love that kid or what? He is out of mind.

Jaxson

[…]

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I’m insulted. I’m insulted right now. Why does he speak patois?

Jaxson

He worked very hard to learn.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Okay, so patois is the Jamaican dialect, right? It’s the Jamaican language. It’s cool to learn another language. By all means. Remember, when Madonna became British, she started speaking with a British accent and everyone was like, this is bizarre. The difference is Madonna never tried to say she was like British by, what did we say?

Jaxson  28:07

Ethnicity.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Ethnicity. Well, you can’t be ethnically British. Still white, Madonna. But like she was always like, yeah, I’m from Detroit. Like, you know what I mean? Hilaria changed her name to a Spanish name. And literally told people, she came back. She came to America to go to high school. What are you talking about?

Jaxson

There it is.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

you grew up in Boston is Boston in España? No, it’s not. Okay. I know because I hate their baseball team. They’re in America. Anyway, long story short, why is this a problem? If she identifies as a Latina. Why is this a problem? I’m glad you asked. Because cultural appropriation costs actual people of a certain culture, money, opportunity, right? It waters down their actual culture. When you agree to do a photo shoot for the cover of Latina magazine as Hilaria, you are misrepresenting an entire culture. Well, Jaime, why is that a big deal? Because there are real Latinas working very hard to create a brand and a name and a business for themselves. And they are not only competing against each other, but they should not have to compete against white people who identify as Latinas because if that’s the case, I identify as a white. I don’t know, man, who is a billionaire. That’s my identity now, and that’s how I’d like to be photographed and addressed and I will live as such. Okay, Jaxson?

Jaxson  30:12

Are you gonna start paying me like a billionaire?

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Oh, good one. I am Warren Buffett, I identify as Warren Buffett, how can you stop me? You can.

Jaxson

I certainly not in the position to.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

I mean, it’s so preposterous, like, I’m Italian. And I love being Italian. Because it’s all I know. Also, I love my grandparents. You know what I mean? I also know that there are some negative stereotypes that come with being Italian. Right? Some people think we’re all in the mafia. Some people think we all cheat. We do. But you know, not your business. Right? And there are people who do pretend like, they don’t lie, but they like allow people to believe that they are Italian when they know they’re not because it suits their desire to be tough guy like a wise guy, you know? And it’s like, Matthew, I went to Hebrew school with you like, I know you’re not Italian. What are you doing?

Jaxson

Not good though.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Anyway, cultural appropriation is bizarre, right, forget that it’s wrong. It’s bizarre. Like I think it’s a form of mental illness like people who, who altered their appearance to be another race and actually, like, try to live as that race and actually believe they’re like, I think Hilaria, Hillary, whatever. She said it so much that I think she actually believes that she is Latina. I hope you guys are walking listening to this podcast right now folding laundry going, girl, you know, this is you got to be lying. No, I’m not lying. Like, one day, all of her kids are going to be like, so Mom, you gave us all like super Hispanic names. And you’re a white chick from Boston, like, just so we’re clear.

Jaxson  32:05

Eduardo’s going to go by Eddie, that’s for sure.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Right. Like it’s just, and the names are beautiful. That’s not the point. It’s just a weird misrepresentation. It just what it does is it feeds into it perpetuates the lie that she created. It’s bizarre,

Jaxson

Extremely bizarre.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

It’s extremely bizarre. And if you there’s a video of her doing like a cooking segment on like, America’s Good Morning or Most Wanted, whatever it’s called. And she’s cooking and she’s speaking with this accent and she’s like, then you put this and then you will then and then what you’re what how you say that? Girl it’s a cucumber. You’re from Boston. What are you talking about? It’s a cucumber. You know what that is. Stop. Like my little sister’s adopted from Dominican Republic. She came here when she was 11 she’s the love of my life. I speak fluent Spanish. I listen to Spanish music. I cook Spanish food from our Dominican I should say very specifically. I dance bachata, merengue, salsa like, but I am in no way ethnically Dominican. I may love the culture; I am loving my sister. I love my niece and my mi sobrinas, mi sobrinos. I love them. It would be bizarre of me to present that I was Dominican.

Jaxson

She would probably not appreciate it.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

She actually tells everyone I’m Dominican. I’m like her name is Jaime, too, I’m like stop saying that she’s like but you are like and that just is […] like that’s with love. She just wants us to be blood. That’s just her way of like, but certainly I would never perpetuate that or you know name my kid Maria like and call her that Josefina that it like, or I could name them that but it’s a misrepresentation. It just is weird. Anyway, I’m sure you’re all familiar with the woman named Rachel Dolezal. Who is a white woman who literally lived as a black woman and went to work for the NAACP y’all you cannot make this shit up.

Jaime Primak Sullivan  34:26

Like that is a perpetuation of cultural appropriation on such a crazy level, like, girl just be white. And it comes from a place of feeling unseen. Because there’s a lot of white people that look like the next white person and it doesn’t feel different or exotic, being white. You know, you can’t have everything you can’t be the majority and the most powerful and the this and the third and also be super exotic. You just got to speak English and be normal, Karen. Anyway. So stop appropriating other people’s cultures. It’s weird. It’s not healthy you need a therapist honestly. And Alec I love that he loves his wife and he should, she retreated off social media. Yeah, you got caught. And of course everyone’s like they’re bullying you. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, remember that Jessie J? […] Okay? That is not bullying.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

The truth feels like an attack when you have no accountability. If she would have just literally instead of making the 10 video she made being like, let me tell you one more time about my past. I’m from Boston, but I went to Spain a lot of times. First of all, where is that at stop. You live in New York. You literally live in New York. Stop with that bizarre accent. You know what I mean? Imagine if I moved to Alabama, and literally I was here and I was like, hey, yo, what do you want? You know, kids it’s time for dinner. You would be like, what are you doing? Yeah, you don’t talk like that. You never talk like that. That’s weird. Madonna. Anyways, I do say y’all sometimes though. That’s true.

Jaxson  36:16

Well, y’all just convenient.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Well, it made me really like painfully aware of how many times I said, you guys, like, because that’s what we say up north like you guys. Anyway. What was I saying? Oh, so if she would have just made a video and been like, alright, look, I take full responsibility for the fact that I completely misrepresented the fact that I am not from Spain. I perpetuated it. It’s how I identify, but I understand how bizarre that sounds. And I never should have taken opportunities from authentic biological Latinas in this industry. Because that is wrong. Also, you’re married to a bajillionair. So maybe don’t take money from Latinas pretending to be Latina money you don’t even need. Like that’s come on. That’s shitty.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Anyway, I’ve talked this topic to death. But if you are currently listening to this podcast, and you are white, pretending to be black, or black, pretending to be Puerto Rican, or Puerto Rican pretending to be Jamaican or something, maybe don’t do that. Maybe just be what you are, and know that God created you exactly who you are. And you can celebrate other cultures. And you can cook their food and listen to their music and speak their language while saying I’m white. But I’m Chet Hanks, and I prefer to speak patois. But I’m white. Right? When we know you are because we actually know your parents. Your parents are famous.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Well, that was a lot. I hope you enjoyed it, and know that I respect anybody’s decision to be anything they want. Unless it’s a blatant lie. And then I’m very confused as to why Jackson if I told you I’m Jamaican. Yeah, man. Me and Chet Hanks. He’s the white one.

Jaxson  38:20

Well, they’re both white.

Jaime Primak Sullivan

Okay, well, he’s the American one. Sure. And Chet is the Jamaican patois. It’s fucking so weird. Remember when Madonna went to England, and she was like legit, like, hey, remember that? Okay, well, that’s cuz you’re young. Anyway. I really am so glad to be talking to you guys again, I’ve missed you very much. And until next time, I love you so much today. Have a great, great day.
